Otterhound

Otterhound Rescue Information: The Otterhound is a big, shaggy, enthusiastic dog. Otterhounds are friendly pets and excellent with children. Otterhounds get along well with other dogs as well as cats. Otterhounds can be stubborn and difficult to train. Otterhounds are best suited to a home with a yard and do okay as outside dogs. Otterhounds need plenty of exercise and this breed especially enjoys swimming.

Otterhound Trivia: Otterhounds were first bred to hunt otters, the overpopulation of which once limited the supply of trout for fishermen in Great Britain. Otterhounds can swim for hours without rest. Otterhounds have become quite rare due to the decline in numbers of otters.
